Professor Henrietta Moore at ECOSOC

26 April 2016

Henrietta Moore

Director of the UCL Institute for Global Prosperity (IGP) Professor Henrietta Moore will be speaking at the Economic and Social Council Integration Segment conference on 2-4 May in New York. The conference, titled ‘Implementing the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development through policy innovation and integration’, aims to address the high ambition of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the importance of realising its objectives through policy innovation and integration, in different development contexts.

Professor Moore will be speaking on the opening panel on Day 1, which is organised around the innovative documentary series produced by IGP and BBC World Service: My Perfect Country. Taking inspiration from the countries and policies featured in My Perfect Country, the panellists will draw upon case studies of successful initiatives around the world in order to frame a positive discussion around the Sustainable Development Goals. The speakers will consider the following:

- What practical and innovative examples can be considered to achieve improved well-being for all citizens in society?

- What lessons can be learned, or replicated, as the main elements of success in integrated national development planning based on these practical experiences?

- What are some of the key characteristics and common factors between different country cases?

- How can policies be designed in an innovative and integrated manner for realizing sustainable development objectives, while taking into account the specificities of each country?

Professor Moore’s involvement in this high profile conference will allow IGP and UCL to inform the Sustainable Development Agenda. The IGP will be following up from the conference in the weeks after the 4 May, and will feed back to the UCL community.

You can still listen to My Perfect Country on the BBC World Service website.
